This PCR cabinet offers a practical way to prevent reagent cross contamination in PCR caused by the presence of residues of previously amplified regions. The UV lamp ensures removal of the contaminating DNA, while the partial recycle, 100 class air flow prevents cross contamination and

carry-out. Recycled air and extracted air are subject to absolute as well as active carbon filtration.
Class II A operation - The fan extracts air from the work area and compresses it in the main plenum and in the main and extraction filter units. From the main plenum, about 70% of contaminated air passes through the main filter unit where it is subject to molecular filtration in the active carbon main filter and to absolute filtration in the HEPA filter. Decontaminated air is recycled to the work area in a 100 class laminar flow to guarantee product sterility. The remaining volume of contaminated air, about 30%, left in the plenum, passes through the extraction filter unit where it is subject to absolute filtration in the HEPA filter and molecular filtration in the active carbon extraction filter. Decontaminated filtered air is reintroduced in the environment through the plenum and the extendable extraction duct, while an equal volume of air is drawn in through the front grill. The air barrier so created prevent contamination between product and environment and protects the operator from discharges of contaminated aerosols. Total decontamination of the air recycled over the product is guaranteed by absolute and molecular filtration. |
