“Blood-O-Mat” System

reduces blood lysys when blood agar in prepared in the traditional manner - connects preparator to Petri dish dispenser - supplied with mixer to allow addition of blood immediately ahead of peristaltic pump, agitator speed regulator and 1000 ml blood container - weight 7 kg - power supply 220/240 V, 110/115 V, 50 Hz, 250 W.

When blood agar is produced in the traditional manner, there is a time lag after the addition of blood during which the medium is held at dispensing temperature. This often causes deterioration of blood cells and the turning of the medium's colour from bright to dark red. A dark red blood agar is not suitable for culture of haemolytic bacteria species and has a shorter shelf life.
These disadvantages can be overcome using the "Blood-O-Matic" system to produce batches of blood agar which will not deteriorate and will have a longer shelf life.
