Sample Preparation

TWIST DRUM HOOP MIXI - Code: 10594
REDUCTION OF ERRORS IN ANALYTICAL METHODS
Sample preparation determines the accuracy of analysis results, as analytical errors can be greatly reduced during sample preparation instead of during the following phases.
As a matter of fact errors caused by analytical instruments are generally much smaller than the errors caused by sample preparation. This may be illustrated by the following: assume that instrument error is half the sample preparation error. Reducing the sample error by 20%, reduces the total error in the chemical analysis by 16%. If, on the other hand, the instrument error is reduced by 20%, the total error will be reduced by 4% only. Therefore, the most effective way of improving the total analytical procedure is by reducing the sample preparation error.

The rotational and diagonal movement of the cylinder containing the sample produces a uniform three dimensional mixing action, indipendently of the specific weight of the sample constituents. The performances and benefits of its using are the following:
- hygienic, aseptic, dust-free mixing
- the large sample volume guarantees a representative sample
- the preset digital setting of time standarizes the sample preparation system
- possible to work for laboratory test or pilot plant
- noise-free unit.

Applications - Seeds, cereals, grains, flakes, rice, granules, sugar, pellets, tablets, capsules.
Sites of use - Dairy, food, chemical, pharmaceutical industries.
Method of use - The sample is introduced into the rotative vessel. Only 2/3 of the vessel should be covered. The vessel is closed with its cap. The operator selects the rotating time and switches on the unit. At the end of the cycle, the sample is homogeneus and ready to be sampled for analysis.
Construction - Case in stove enamelled aluminium - vessel support in anodized aluminium - vessel in plexiglass - capacity 6 litres - front control panel with: main switch; start switch; analogic regulator for clockwise rotation speed from 2 to 40 rpm; time selector preset on 3 position: 1-6 min, 1-12 min, 1-12 hours - dimensions: 470x390x515 h mm - weight 15 kg - 220/240 V, 50 Hz.

QUARTER SAMPLE SPLITTER - Code: 17213
Using “Quarter” is quite simple: the product, grain or powder, to be divided in equal parts is poured into a cone-shaped mound, which is then flattened into a round shape of uniform thickness. Using “Quarter”, the “pie” is divided into four sectors, two of which are discarded. The operation can be repeated to obtain the desired number of equal parts.
Application - Powder, flour, crystals, sugar.
Sites of use - Pharmaceutical, chemical, food, feed, dairy industries.
Construction - Sterilizable metal.

SPLITTER SAMPLE SPLITTER - Code: 17214
Used for dividing grain and powder products in two, four, eight equal parts. Sample is split through the 18 chutes and falls into two separate containers. The operation can be repeated to obtain the desired number of equal parts.
Application - Powder, flour, crystals, sugar.
Sites of use - Pharmaceutical, chemical, food, feed, dairy industries.
Construction - Metal.

CYCLONE ANALYTIC GRINDER - Code: 17909
“Cyclone” grinders operate on a patent system based on centrifugal streaming of the product against a circular grinding strip, the centrifugal action being generated by a high-speed impeller. Sample grinding will continue until the ground particles are of such size as to pass through the screen and fall into the container. The air flow generated by the impeller prevents thermal degradation of sample during grinding. The end result is a finely ground sample of highly uniform consistency (80% of size smaller that 200 mm). Uniformity of the ground sample (unimodular dispersion) is the key factor for obtaining accurate and reproducible results.
Sites of use - “Cyclone” grinders are used in the following sectors - food and agriculture: grain, animal feed, leaves, straw, pasta - industry: tablets, detergents, fertilisers, plastics, polycarbonates, coal, crumbly products. When grinding products such as leaves, pellets, animal feed, pasta, etc., the use of “Cyclofora” feeder head is recommended.
Method of use - The use of “Cyclone” grinders requires no particular training: having selected the appropriate screen (normally 1 mm), the container for collecting the ground sample is placed under the chute. The motor is started and, after it has reached max. rpm, the product is poured into the feed hopper. The ground sample will quickly (abt. 3 g per second) collect in the container, while the impeller’s airflow contributes to self-cleaning.
Construction - Analytic grinder for quick milling of samples required for chemical analysis or NIR - grinding chamber safety switch - motor overheating safety switch - cyclone air channelling to reduce sample thermal degradation - tungsten carbide grinder mounted on steel base plate - delivery: abt. 3 g per second - ground sample collected in glass or plastic 120-ml containers - sample max. grain size: 5 mm - 3/4 hp electrical motor (0.5 kW) - grinding speed: 10,400 rpm - vacuum-assisted grinding unit (optional) - the fitting of “Cyclofeed” electrical feeder allows grinding of large quantities of product with no need for constant operator’s supervision - dim.: 260x260x470 h mm - weight: 13 kg - power supply: 220/240 V, 50 Hz - available in two versions for grinding products with high or low moisture and fat content.
